WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY CONTINUES STATEWIDE FOR ICE THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. Advisories kick in for the north and east as the frontal boundary moves later in the day. When the advisory begins is roughly the onset time for it to start. Dry air over the north may delay precipitation by an hour or so.
Picture
SNOW TO START FOR THE NORTH AND EAST before the flip to the junky mix of sleet and freezing rain. The rooftop of The County could pick up 4", with lesser amounts to the south.
Picture
ICE ACCRETION THREAT PRIMARILY FOR HIGHER ELEVATIONS where ¼-½" is possible. The central highlands/Moosehead/Baxter regions could see similar amounts as the western mountains. The valleys receive less. The shorelines may see light amounts early Sunday morning, but an onshore flow brings warmer air in to minimize the threat.

Maine will emerge from this with minimal damage, whereas areas to the west will not be so fortunate. It is more of a travel concern than anything.

MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE COULD BE SLICK FOR INTERIOR AREAS. Cold air damming and model ideas do not get along well. Warm air will win in this case with the inside runner track through Quebec, with the surface low intensifying as it moves northeast, but it may take extra time beyond the scheduled end time of the winter weather advisory.

MONDAY BRINGS RAIN STATEWIDE WITH A CHANCE FOR THUNDER FOR SOUTHWEST AREAS because if you have a kitchen sink storm, you may as well get all the dirty dishes. Brief periods of heavy rain and gusty wind may accompany a few sparks and rumbles.

COLD FRONT PASSES THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT. The rain/storms end, with snow showers possible as a parting gift for higher elevations. SLICK SPOTS for interior areas are possible Tuesday morning as liquid on the roadways freezes up. Expect a breezy, chilly day as the storm intensifies as it heads into Labrador.

THE NEXT STORM COMES THURSDAY and appears to be another junky one. Thankfully, it will move along at a good pace. Stay tuned for more on that.
