A pair of strong ridges, upper lows, and three tropical systems are easily visible on the water vapor screenshot taken at 4:30 AM Thursday. Just off the screen is a deep trough moving into the Pacific Northwest that will bat in the clean-up role and shove all of this east over the weekend into early next week. For Maine interests, the forecast stays on track with rain showers in various intensities throughout the day, ending from northwest to southeast Thursday afternoon into the evening. Southern areas may receive a couple of claps of thunder as the cold front passes through later in the day. The southeast air flow could be breezy at times. After the frontal passage, there may be a lull in wind speed as it shifts to the northwest, allowing fog to break out later in the afternoon and into tonight. Overall, impacts continue to appear to be minor. Some ponding on roadways and a few slick spots from leaf drop are possible. Isolated street flooding from leaf-clogged drains is also possible. The surf is expected to rise along the shorelines as the surface low cranks up upon departure. The seas begin to settle down on Friday. As the air column clears out on Friday, a few showers are possible for the higher elevations, with an isolated risk across the rest of the region. The northwest wind flow brings warmer temperatures to the coast, with cooler temperatures along the Quebec border. The weekend appears dry with above-normal temperatures. Our next chance for rain appears to be around Wednesday or Thursday next week. Winter is coming, and I could use your support for 2025Always have MULTIPLE ways to receive weather alerts.
