HIGH RIP CURRENT STATEMENT – HIGH SURF ADVISORY – SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY… The ocean is the main source of concern for the day. The surf builds as the remnants of Debby depart. The shorelines become hazardous due to high rip currents, which could be dangerous for swimmers. Folks headed to the beach should pay attention to lifeguards, signs, and or flags about water use. For wave watchers, be aware that rogue high waves could crash onto the shorelines, posing a significant risk of injury or even death from being knocked over. Please respect the power of the ocean and view it from a safe distance. A small craft advisory is in effect for the rough sea. The ocean settles down overnight into Sunday. SATURDAY / SATURDAY NIGHT… Areas of early morning showers clear out as the cold front passes east. Cloud cover breaks up, and any areas of fog dissipate as a westerly breeze begins to pick up. Humidity stays up through the morning. A weak frontal boundary works through in the afternoon, bringing a risk of an isolated shower or thunderstorm for central, MidCoast, and DownEast areas. Any shower or thunderstorm activity ends by evening. As that wave passes through, the wind shifts to the northwest, allowing dry air to move in heading into the evening. By midnight, dew points, along with the overnight low temperatures, fall into the 50s for most of the region. SUNDAY… An upper-level low spins its way into the area from the northwest, which pops clouds and may bring a light shower to the higher terrain. High temperatures run close to average in the mid-70s to low 80s. A west / southwest breeze picks up through the day and settles by evening. MONDAY… Scattered showers are possible over the north, west, and east, with southern areas staying dry. High temperatures in the 70s to low 80s with a northwest breeze. Enjoy your Saturday!
