A cutoff upper low develops to our south on Saturday and slowly moves to the northeast on Sunday. Weak ridging gives the area a break from precipitation on Monday. A cold front passes through the region Tuesday, bringing another round of showers. Snow showers are possible for the Quebec border region on Wednesday. Another storm is possible late next week. FRIDAY: Light precipitation over the west and south to start the day moves eastward through the morning, departing eastern areas by early afternoon. The rule of thumb for the day is the further north, the better chance for sun, and thus milder temperatures. SATURDAY: Precipitation breaks out over southern areas around sunrise, starting as snow and moving north during the morning. Accumulations of a coating to 2" on grassy surfaces are possible for areas along the New Hampshire border from interior York County north into Rangeley. Periods of snow showers, perhaps a touch of sleet, and rain continue throughout the day from Jackman to Houlton and south. Far northern areas, protected by high pressure, escape with another dry day. Areas of fog are possible and could be locally dense in spots. SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY: The chance for showers continues and moves northward with areas of fog. A dry slot could work into southern and western regions in the afternoon, but at this point, it is a wait-and-see situation. Expect the breeze to pick up along the shorelines and keep conditions on the raw side. The PTW Weather Wall has the latest information |
