Update presented by Crowe’s Restoration of Arundel. For emergency fire & water damage (pipe bursts), mold, or biohazard issues in western and southern Maine, call them at 207-467-3152... A FRONTAL BOUNDARY passes through the region on Friday. Other than the risk of snow showers and/or flurries over the higher elevations, this is a dry event. A few clouds may pop, but most will notice the northwest wind picking up on the backside of the front this afternoon. It could be a bit breezy in areas not shaded by the White Mountains and could blow some snow around in the mountains. With the increase in wind speeds comes the chill along with it. Cold air advection has the interior on the cool side, with warmer temperatures along the shorelines. RADIATIONAL COOLING ON TAP for Friday night as the wind drops and the sky clears. Where there is no wind, those areas could see lows in the -10°s to start Saturday. SATURDAY features a surface high over the region to start the day. That will quickly move offshore, pop some clouds as a warm front passes through, and set up a southwesterly flow in the afternoon, with speeds mainly in the 5-15 mph range and a few gusts around 20. SATURDAY NIGHT will be a bit breezy, keeping actual temperatures up a few degrees from Friday night, with most areas staying above zero. SUNDAY will be breezy once again. Clouds will be to the north and the sun to the south. High temperatures are expected in the 20s north and 30s for the coastal plain, but with the breeze, it feels like the teens and 20s. EXTENDED OUTLOOK shows a somewhat unsettled week that may bring snow showers and/or light snow to the mountains and north on Monday and Tuesday. It’s back to the freezer to close out the week. Ideas about a potential storm next weekend are floating around, but confidence is low.
