Welcome to November! It may not feel like that to start the day with the anomalously warm temperatures, but we crash back to reality in the afternoon and will certainly feel it on Saturday. WIND: A sharp cold front passes through the region today. While it will be moisture-starved, it will bring a breeze out of the southwest, then flip to the northwest as the day progresses. Wind gusts may reach the 25-35 mph range, with the higher elevations reaching 40-45 for a brief period. I am not expecting too many issues, but I can’t rule out the slight risk of power loss in the usual areas. Thankfully, most leaves have fallen outside the oaks, which we know will come down by spring. The speeds slowly subside Friday night and into Saturday. PRECIPITATION: Most shower activity will pass through the south and east Friday morning and is expected to end around midday. However, I can’t rule out an isolated pop-up in the afternoon as the air column clears. The north and mountains see showers ending by late afternoon. The hills may experience light snow showers as a parting gift later in the day and into Friday night. TEMPERATURE WHIPLASH: The high temperatures come early in the day and then head south with the northwest breeze in the afternoon. Saturday temperatures could be 20-25° cooler than Friday, which would be slightly below average. OUTLOOK: Fair weather is expected over the weekend and the start of next week. A weak warm front passing through on Tuesday could bring a few showers on Election Day. We’ll take another run at record-high temperatures on Wednesday. Abnormally dry conditions and above-average temperatures are expected to continue through the month. Always have MULTIPLE ways to receive weather alerts.
