I am away for the weekendMy wife and I, along with our dog, are away to New Hampshire for the weekend to unplug and explore for a couple of days. Winter is coming and the pattern likely to get busier, so I want to spend as much time with them as I can before she turns into a weather forecasters widow when a more active pattern arrives. Unsettled week aheadThe good Lord knows we need a boatload of rain at this point. The drought continues to worsen to the point where the region needs between 22-29" of rainfall by spring to get us out of the deficit we are in. With hurricane season turning into a big bust, there is no help from the south as ridging is not allowing for the potential for big rainfall to work its way into the region. That is both good and bad, as while we could certainly use the rain, flooding is not what we are looking for as that will add insult to injury. An upper-low is expected to dip into the region to start next week and spins around in the neighborhood for several days. This will be enough to reduce the wildfire threat, but will not offer relief from the drought.
