Today's update is presented by Crowe’s Restoration of Arundel. For emergency fire & water damage (pipe bursts), mold, or biohazard issues in western and southern Maine, call them at 207-467-3152. SEVERAL MONDAY WEATHER HEADLINES… WINTER STORM WARNING continues for northern Maine until 1 PM. While most of the snowfall has been received, NWS Caribou is maintaining the warning due to dangerous driving conditions due to blowing snow causing whiteout conditions with visibility near zero. This could be worse for those who experienced what happened there on Thursday. The best thing to do there is stay home. WIND ADVISORY is in effect for western and southern areas between 9 AM and 1 AM on Tuesday. Any areas that received the powder with little to no ice from Sunday’s storm can expect it to blow around, reducing visibilities and causing whiteout conditions. The region appears to have escaped the icing with minor accretion reports, which reduces the power outage threat. COLD WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for the western mountains and north from 9 PM to 9 AM Tuesday, with forecast wind chill values as low as -33° to -28°. THE OCEAN is going to be rocking today. High surf, along with freezing spray and strong wind. EXPECT SNOW SHOWERS over the north, west, and east as the strong exiting storm pinwheels upper-level energy through the area. Expect those to diminish as the storm heads for the Gulf of St. Lawrence later. TUESDAY… The stiff breeze continues with blowing snow, with a mix of sun and clouds. WEDNESDAY… A mainly sunny day statewide with less wind, but continued breezy over the mountains and north. STORM THAT WILL IMPACT THE MID-ATLANTIC Wednesday appears to stay well away from the region. I can’t completely rule out some ocean-effect snow showers for Thursday, as there have been hints of an inverted trough setting up, but I don’t expect much in the way of accumulation. I want to say thank you to Cleaves Energy, Wild Maine Gardens, and Zen and Company for the mentions in the past few days. Support from the business community means a lot. I also want to thank all individuals who have also passed PTW along. I would not continue to do this without your shares and financial support.... period.
