BACK TO THE SAUNA: Dew point temperatures are expected to climb into the 70s over much of the region and stay there over the next couple of days, with NO relief at night. This will drive the heat indices up. Areas not included in the heat advisory could see the heat index hit 90°+. Exercise early, stay properly hydrated, have a place to cool off, and be aware of heat illness. For a list of cooling locations, please follow @MaineEMA. The beaches are likely to be loaded again. The tide cycle is perfect. SHOWERS AND STORMS ARE POSSIBLE IN THE AFTERNOON INTO THE OVERNIGHT, so stay aware. I can’t rule out an isolated severe storm or two over southwestern areas. Overnight rumbles are possible, with a better chance for the north. There is potential for localized flash flooding from tropical dumpers along with gusty wind in any storms that form. Showers and storms are possible to start the day on Tuesday and maybe hit or miss throughout the day. WATCH FOR FOG. SEVERE STORM POTENTIAL INCREASES WEDNESDAY as the second of the three upper low amigos to the northwest works into the region. Damaging wind and localized flooders are likely. Time will tell if there may be more to it than just that. It could be one of the stronger upper lows we’ve seen in a few weeks.
SHOWER POSSIBLE TO START THURSDAY, and there is potential for the frontal boundary to stall. The offshore ridge may not take the coming beat down very lightly. THE THIRD AMIGO arrives later in the week to bring warm but drier conditions for next weekend. For those heading to Yarmouth for the Clam Festival, it’s shaping up to be good weather. For those going, have a lime rickey for me, and enjoy. Stay cool, and stay aware of pop-up storms! -Mike |
