Windy, chilly with a few slick spots to start the weekPATTERN SYNOPSIS: A strong 975 mb storm over northeast New Brunswick as of early Monday is expected to head for Labrador by Monday night. The system weakens as it crawls to the east, south of Greenland, on Tuesday. An upper-level trough remains overhead throughout the week, keeping temperatures seasonably cool. The next potential storm, which may bring widespread precipitation, is expected to arrive on Friday. SLICK SPOTS AROUND the west, central, east, and north to start Monday as a result of snow and ice overnight. Snow showers and squalls may bring localized whiteout conditions, primarily over the north and mountains, but I can't rule out a chance of this occurring over the east and central parts of the state through mid-afternoon. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY continues for The County and the Great North Woods through 1 PM. Snow showers with light accumulations are possible for the north country through the afternoon, tapering off in the evening. Snow showers may persist along the Quebec border region into Tuesday. WINDY CONDITIONS STATEWIDE that may bring stiff gusts that may cause isolated power outages. The wind slowly diminishes overnight into Tuesday, decreasing over the south by Tuesday night and over the north Wednesday morning. Wind chills in the teens and 20s are expected for Monday, with slightly warmer values on Tuesday. HIGH PRESSURE moves in and settles the wind for Wednesday and Thursday. THE NEXT STORM is expected on Friday. The current forecast predicts precipitation to begin as rain along the coast (potential cold air damming may change that), a mixed bag for the western foothills, central areas, and interior eastern Maine, and snow for the north, eventually changing to rain, with snow showers as a parting gift for the Quebec border region heading into Saturday. This will be updated during the week. Stay tuned! Family owned and operated emergency serviceThe PTW Weather Wall updates 24/7Your financial support keeps the lighthouse lit |
