Dry times continue well into OctoberThis pattern is something else. This is shaping up to be the worst drought in decades, with no clear end in sight. Tropical systems to the south will be shoved out to sea to the east/northeast. Imelda brings some high clouds to the coast Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. A weak front to the northwest is expected to enter northern areas on Monday afternoon and may bring a few light rain showers to The County. The shorelines can expect swells and rip current threats to increase on Tuesday, build up through Wednesday, and then slowly subside on Friday and into the weekend. Seas may peak out in the 5-8' range with sneaker waves potentially higher in exposed areas. Wind speeds increase out of the southwest ahead of the front on Monday, then shift to the north-northwest overnight into Tuesday, bringing in drier air and elevating fire danger, which may continue at some level for several days. As the wind settles Tuesday night, frost threats appear likely for interior areas Wednesday morning. Widespread frost is possible Thursday morning. Temperatures begin to moderate as ridging builds in for the weekend, but not before another risk of frost for the interior Friday morning.
