SATURDAY…
TWO WAVES OF SHOWER / STORM POTENTIAL: One in the morning and another in the afternoon. Where the sun comes out, the thunder guns may come out. Storms could contain gusty winds and torrential rainfall, with an isolated severe chance. Folks along the sea breeze front, take note. Afternoon showers and storms are expected to reach the coastline by early evening and clear out by midnight. ANOTHER SULTRY DAY with temps making a run at 90° over the southwest interior if/when the sun pokes through. Most areas climb into the 80s. MidCoast and DownEast shorelines are the cool zones with the southwest breeze, and some harbors may be dealing with fog for some, if not all, of the day. Temps may bust on the low end where the sun does not appear. A BIT COOLER SATURDAY NIGHT, and I say “a bit” as dew points and actual temperatures drop into the 60s, making sleeping a little more tolerable for those folks without A/C. Get what rest you can, as the break will be short-lived. HEATWAVE WATCH SUNDAY INTO NEXT WEEK: Cases with guidance are being made where some places over the southwest up into central areas may see between 3-5 days of 90° or better for daily highs, and it all depends on the strong ridge offshore. While not a classic Bermuda High, given its position to the northeast of the island nation, it resembles a death ridge that has been relatively common over the southwestern part of the country in past summers. This is the cause of the atmospheric heat pump going haywire and why the dewpoints have been drip points for so long. Weak disturbances will try to chip away at it, which may bring shower/storm threats to the north on Sunday and Monday. RELIEF IS ON THE WAY BUT WILL COME WITH SEVERE STORM THREATS on Tuesday and Wednesday. By Friday, most areas could be waking up with overnight lows in the 50s. Have a great day, and thank you for your support! - Mike |
