WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY EXPANDED STATEWIDE FOR ICE. I don't want to hype this up for anything more than it is an annoying, long-duration, slow-accreting freezing rain event. It is most concerning for southwestern New Hampshire, which could cause more significant problems. The main concern for Maine is the western interior, with the higher elevations seeing the threat for ¼-½". At the same time, little wind is associated with the stalled boundary, allowing ice to accrete more efficiently. While I can't rule out the risk of isolated power outages, I don't expect any widespread issues.

SLEET/ICE PELLETS are a wildcard player in this, as it may diminish ice accretion, but do not reduce the potential for slick conditions.

EXPECT LULLS AS DISTURBANCES PASS THROUGH. While Saturday will be messy over southwestern areas through midday, precipitation will become light or taper off. Travel should improve in the afternoon. Another wave will work into the region early in the evening and is expected to lift north Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Picture
COLD AIR DAMMING will determine how this will play out during the day on Sunday. The shoreline towns may see freezing rain become plain rain as airflow out of the south tries to work in at the surface, but again, cold air damming will have the final say on how far inland it will go. For now, I will maintain the idea of icy conditions for areas north of Route 2 starting Monday morning. How this feature behaves will dictate how long the ice threat continues for the interior. Still, confidence is high that temperatures will rise into the 40s/50s (60s possible for interior York County) by Monday afternoon.
