SUNDAY: The cold front that entered northern areas late yesterday drops south during the day. For most of the state, a sunny and dry day is ahead. The only exception is for the southwestern region, which may see a shower with a slight chance of a rumble of thunder in the afternoon. The front clears the south by late afternoon, allowing for a dry evening.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Dew point temperatures fall into the mid-40s to low 50s across the state, giving the area an early fall feel. Some patchy fog may develop around lakes, ponds, and rivers as inland water temperatures are 20-30° warmer than the actual air temperature by morning. This will be the coolest night the area will see for a while. MONDAY: The pick of the work week. Dry and comfortable, with highs in the 70s for the north, mountains, and shorelines, with 80s elsewhere. TUESDAY THRU FRIDAY: The ridge offshore responsible for the heat and humidity strengthens and battles it out with the trough that gave us the pleasant weather over the weekend. The core upper-low with the trough weakens and heads northeast for Greenland. The cold front that passed through Saturday/Sunday returns as a warm front on Tuesday. The general idea is that the state will be dodging showers and storms in isolated or scattered numbers throughout the rest of the work week. I don’t see any washout days at this point. Dew point temperatures will rise into the 60s to low 70s, bringing back muggy conditions and chances of coastal fog. HEAT RETURNS NEXT WEEKEND, with Sunday being the hotter and potentially swampier day. A potential heat wave to wrap up the month. Enjoy your Sunday! - Mike |
