A bit on the cool side...A FROSTY START across the region as witnessed by my dog Bud and me as we went for our pre-sunrise walk through the neighborhood. Expect a repeat of that Monday morning. WIND CONTINUES TO DROP over interior areas as upper-level and surface ridging moves in. With the ridge moving in, cloud cover ranges from mostly cloudy for the mountains and north to mostly sunny to the south. CLOUDS INCREASE MONDAY as a long wave, fast-moving trough heads into the region from the west. Showers may arrive over the western mountains by early evening and expand across the state. Rainfall is expected to be light at less than ¼" for most areas. Rain is likely to end over the north and east around daybreak Tuesday or soon after. WIND INCREASES ON TUESDAY as a storm forms along the boundary offshore and slams into Newfoundland. Wind speeds and gusts appear similar to those on Saturday, ranging from 25 to 40 mph (with higher speeds at elevation). The breeze settles down as we head into Wednesday. THE NEXT SYSTEM enters the region Wednesday night. Model ideas on what may come from it are widely scattered, ranging from light snow in the mountains and north to showers elsewhere, to little to no precipitation. This will be updated.
