Frontal boundary sags southeastHigh pressure builds in behind a cold front that moved through early Thursday. A cooler and drier air mass moves in behind the front, setting up for a few pleasant summer days coming up. A very weak cold front moves into the state on Sunday before dying out. This will bring some showers to northern areas while the rest of the state stays dry. High pressure returns for next week with more pleasant weather ahead. Chilly nights, pleasant days through SaturdayHigh pressure builds in the region to end the work week and start the weekend. This will clear out the skies starting tonight, allowing for radiational cooling that cools down the temperatures. For Thursday night, this may be confined to areas in the north and west, with some cloud coverage lingering over the east. Tomorrow night, however, all areas will see clear skies, which will cool things for everyone. The cooler and drier air mass moving in on Friday will keep temperatures below 80°F and the dew point below 60°F, making for a pleasant Friday and Saturday! Showers possible for the north on SundayOn Sunday, another cold front moves into the state. However, this time it will be very weak and even die out as it moves through the state. Some showers and an isolated thunderstorm may develop in the northern areas as the front moves through. Most weather models are hinting at some rainfall during the day on Sunday, with totals less than 0.10", supporting quick summertime afternoon showers. The rain stays confined to the north due to the cold front dying out and a drier air mass moving into the region behind from the northwest. A nice Maine summer week aheadHigh pressure moves back into the region for most of next week. This will keep us dry, which is supported by the model ensembles showing below-average precipitation. Partly to mostly sunny skies next week will allow for temperatures to warm up into the mid-80s during the afternoon, which is just slightly above average for this time of year. However, where it really will be pleasant is in the humidity, or lack thereof. Dew points will be below 60°F for most early next week, with a few southeast areas peaking right at 60°F. With dew points just below the 60°F comfort threshold, it will feel very comfortable outside! Be sure to enjoy the pleasant weather outside while you can next week!
