First, a special thank you to those who contributed to the cause. Donations continue to trickle in during this quiet stretch and are greatly appreciated. Regardless of how active or inactive the weather pattern is, the bills still need to be paid to keep the lights on and the coffee hot. The October bills are paid, another round of large bills is on the way for January, and the monthlies continue. Impact weather will return at some point, and PTW will be there, thanks to your financial support. I don’t do this without it. This pattern is beautifully boring. From this forecaster’s point of view, it’s annoying, with not much going on or much to talk about, and it has been that way for weeks. October is usually an active month, but it is a big dud this year. Record highs this past week and may see a run at records next week. Halloween appears to be more like mid-September temperature-wise. As I mentioned on Tuesday on Facebook and will mention here, my main concern will be wildfire danger, given the dry conditions, drier dew point levels, and breezes on the way. The weather is excellent, and there is always the itch to get a jump on yard cleanup, which is fine as long as you aren’t burning it. The state is turning into a tinder box as northern areas are in their driest two-month stretch on record, and the southern regions are moving into the top ten. Falling dew points in the 20s and 30s dry out tree debris quickly, and that is what is on the way Sunday into Monday. Looking into the more extended range into November, dry and seasonably warm conditions will persist. I do not see it getting cold outside of a couple of nights here or there for a while. Be forewarned that winter is going to be very slow in arrival. Always have MULTIPLE ways to receive weather alerts. Stay aware, stay on alert, and stay safe. - Mike PRINT MEDIA: Feel free to quote and cite my work here for your stories.
