SHOWER/SPRINKLE CHANCES THROUGH SATURDAY – MINOR COASTAL FLOODING

The offshore low to the south is rather disorganized and may not completely get its act together as it wobbles around the benchmark 40°N/70°W point south of Nantucket through Saturday. This will battle with dry air to the north and try to move into the area, but an approaching backdoor cold front keeps the ocean low in check. Eventually, it will win out and shove the storm to the east.

Given the nature of the disorganized system, forecast models are throwing darts at precipitation outcomes. York County appears to get the most out of it and, if lucky, could pick up ¼” or more, depending on how this plays out. The bottom line here is that it is all dependent upon how close the storm gets to the coastline.

The shorelines will be contending with a bit of a breeze, patchy fog, and drizzle through Saturday. Interior areas may get a sprinkle or light shower, but there will be no accumulation of any value, as dry air will eat up what moisture gets thrown inland.

Astronomically high tides with the onshore flow may cause minor coastal flooding and splashover in low-lying areas through Sunday.

Looking ahead, there are signals that a widespread rain is possible late next week, but not enough of one to hang my hat on yet.
