 The upper low overhead of the region pinwheels around and brings areas of clouds, along with rain and snow showers, to the western mountains and up into the Allagash through Wednesday morning. The surface high to the northeast near the Gulf of St. Lawrence pulls cold air down from western Quebec. This will set up a FROST/FREEZE threat through the rest of the week and may potentially bring an official end to the growing season along the coast. The frost/freeze threat is the only impact weather to be concerned with over the next several days. Ridging from the west moves in and drops anchor in time for the weekend and is expected to hang tough well into next week. It may be late next week before the region may see a chance for any meaningful rainfall. Cool is the rule through Wednesday. Then, the region sees a warming trend into next weekend with above-average temperatures, which will likely continue well into next week.
