Pattern remains progressive through the weekWhile the pattern is active, the rain chances appear to be short-lived. After Wednesday's system passes through, the hose of what little moisture can squeeze in from the south gets cut off, and we'll go back into a drier, cooler pattern by the weekend and will continue into next week. Outside of interior showers here and there, the next system to watch may be in the vicinity of Halloween. A few showers around on TuesdayTuesday 6 AM to Wednesday Midnight - The backside of the upper low that brought rain to the region Monday passes through during the day. Southern areas appear to stay mainly dry, other than the risk of a sprinkle or a light shower. Precipitation chances are better over the west, north, and east. Southern areas may get a bit of a breeze. One more round of rain on WednesdayThe general idea is for a copy of the track of the system that passed through on Monday, but with less moisture to work with. The region can expect widespread scattered light to moderate showers. Interior areas may get a rumble of thunder mixed in during the afternoon. Wednesday 4 AM to Thursday 9 AM - One-hour rainfall forecast from the NAM3km km short-range model indicates showers for the morning commute over the south and west, and up into central areas of the state. Showers eventually make it into northern and far eastern areas later in the day. Precipitation ends from southwest to northeast into the overnight through mid-morning on Thursday. The breeze picks up ahead of the front, but not as strongly as on Monday. The shorelines and taller hills could see gusts pushing 30 mph, but the general idea is 15-25 mph for most of the area. Expect another breezy day on Thursday before it settles down by Friday. Outlook and temperatures through MondayA weak clipper is expected to pass through the region Friday afternoon into Saturday morning, which may bring an isolated light sprinkle/shower, but nothing of any value. A strong upper level trough digs in for the weekend, bringing cool and breezy conditions. The PTW Weather Wall updates 24/7Your financial support keeps the lighthouse lit |
