High pressure moves in from the west. While it will be mainly sunny, the northwest wind will pump in cold, dry air, making it chilly. An afternoon snow shower is possible over the north along the Quebec border. Expect wind chill values in the 20s and 30s. WEDNESDAY NIGHT: The polar air mass overhead associated with the surface high, combined with a clear sky, causes radiational cooling, setting up a cold start for Thursday with overnight lows 10-15° below normal for this time of the year. THURSDAY: High pressure slides east during the day. An upper-level ridge from the west moves in, bringing breezy conditions to the north. A southwesterly flow develops aloft and increases high clouds over the south and west in the afternoon, with cirrus entering the northern and eastern sky by evening. Temperatures are expected to be around 10° higher than Wednesday, near average. THURSDAY NIGHT: Clouds continue to build, and any breeze around settles. Lows are near average, in the 20s and 30s. FRIDAY: Mainly cloudy with a risk of a snow shower for the north and west and a rain shower for the south. Highs in the 40s. THE WEEKEND appears damp, with Saturday the wetter of the two days. Guidance is having fun figuring out the cut-off upper low that moves in and provides various potential outcomes. Stay tuned for updates! The PTW Weather Wall has the latest information |
