A strong surface low wobbles around Newfoundland while a weak ridge from the west begins to nudge its way in. After another seasonably chilly day, temperatures warm up to near normal in the south to slightly above normal in the north for Thursday and Friday. Beginning Saturday, temperatures slowly head down to the basement as another upper-level trough works in, and another reinforcing trough arrives early next week. All of this keeps significant storms away but makes snow showers possible in the forecast statewide as we head into the middle part of the month. The persistent wind the region continues to deal with begins to diminish by Saturday but could remain breezy in the mountains until early next week. The next potential storm may come next weekend, but we’ve seen this movie before in the long term, making it a low-confidence idea for now but something to monitor.
