WEDNESDAY: Overall, a kind of a blah day for the area. The region is caught in a sandwich between the approaching trough and the offshore ridge. The two have been in a stalemate since Tuesday, but with the trough gaining strength, the frontal boundaries begin to move along. Showers with the outside risk of a rumble for interior areas and areas of fog and drizzle plaguing the shorelines are the expectations for the day. Where the fog persists, temperatures may not reach 70 degrees. WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Areas of low pressure to the west and southwest begin to converge over southern New England. This keeps the risk of a shower or two going, along with warm overnight temperatures with the dew points elevated. Fog could be locally dense in spots, and an advisory may be issued for it. Overnight lows range in the upper 50s to low 60s. THURSDAY: It's not the greatest setup for storm potential, but the risk is there IF the sun can poke through. There appears to be enough potential instability aloft to cause rumbles with the approaching cold front, at the very least. Whether or not the region gets a gnarly storm or two is to be determined. Once again, interior areas have the best chance for activity the further away from the shorelines. Showers and storm potential appear isolated from this vantage point, with all areas seeing a chance before the front clears out Thursday night. High temperatures range mainly in the 70s, but southwestern areas may reach 80° if the sun appears. FRIDAY: High pressure moves in as the trough sets up shop for the weekend. The mountains and north may get clipped with a light shower / sprinkle. Dew point temperatures drop a few degrees, allowing for a relatively comfortable day for most of the region. SATURDAY/SUNDAY: The weekend looks great. A bit warmer each day, with dew points remaining at reasonable levels as high pressure crawls to the east, heading offshore by Sunday night.
