Pine Tree Weather is a labor of love, but that love takes funding.

My operating budget is $4,500 per year. That pays for the weather data subscriptions, software, this website, graphics, and technology required to bring you a quality product. That doesn't even include countless hours of research, writing, and producing discussions on this site and on Facebook.

You are reading this page because others donated to keep this operation going.

To keep this going, it takes financial support from folks like yourself.

How to donate to Pine Tree Weather

Picture
The monthly option is through my Patreon page. Donors on average set up an automatic payment between $1 to $5 per month. The transaction occurs on the first of every month. My Patreon supporters are the backbone to building my budget. $0.85 of every pledged dollar comes to me directly.

DUE TO CHANGES WITH APPLE - PLEASE DO NOT PAY VIA THE PATREON APP. I will lose 45 cents of every dollar pledged. Please donate online through Patreon directly. Thank you!

There is also the VENMO option. You can donate any amount at any time by looking me up @PineTreeWeather. The last four digits of my phone are 5072 in case you need it.  NOTE THAT GOODS & SERVICES takes 5% away from me. Please use personal transfer.

PayPal is an option and you can send a contribution to me @pinetreeweather.

The final option is to send a check via the Post Office. You can message me on Twitter or Facebook to get my address and information. For those who mailed checks previously, my address in Kennebunk remains the same.

Maine runs on small business, and so does PTW...

One thing that makes Maine special is the small business owners. Chris Carleton, owner of Allspeed Cyclery & Snow on Brighton Avenue in Portland, has been a long-time follower of PTW, shares his thoughts: "Really excited to support Mike and Pine Tree Weather. I have been an early champion of Mike's amazing efforts to provide a niche 'tell it how it is' approach to weather. Really happy to be able to give back to Mike!"

Chris Bartlett, owner of Spinney's Restaurant and Lodging on Popham Beach, shared his thoughts on Facebook about how PTW helped save his business from destruction by the two major winter storms in January 2024:

"As an amateur weather nerd, I have always enjoyed living in Maine and experiencing the dynamic and often brutal weather in our corner of the world. I found the Pine Tree Weather blog in December 2023 and have really enjoyed the Maine-focused, in-depth weather analysis Mike Haggett provides. In early January 2024, Mike started raising alarms about a potential coastal mega storm around January 10th.

With my seawall quite compromised from previous storms, I was already on alert to winter storms, and quickly took action thanks to Mike’s incredible and honest forecasting. Working with state authorities and local Phippsburg heroes, the Doughty, I was able to get 4 loads of rip rap where the wall was most compromised prior to the arrival of the Jan. 10th storm.
These wall repairs saved Spinneys from extreme devastation or complete destruction, full stop. Without Pine Tree Weather, Maine DEP, and the Doughty’s, 987 Popham Rd would look very different today. It's hard to talk about what the alternative outcomes could have been, and it seems like a world away on this peaceful sunny day. I’ve always said, “Mother Nature doesn’t give a shit if I sell lobster rolls right here.”

I always promised Mike that once I financially “recovered” from this storm, (30 year SBA loan, lol) I would do what I could to repay him for the service he provides. His blog has no paywall, no required forking over of cash, just a nice guy with a passion for the weather trying to make a nickel to cover his costs and keep the public informed. I’m now a proud sponsor of what Mike does, and for this, I am grateful."

Do you have a small business? Whether year-round or seasonal, one location or several, please contact me about partnership opportunities. Let's work together to help each other and grow our businesses together.

Supporting Pine Tree Weather supports further atmospheric study...
and those that study it.

Portions of the proceeds that support Pine Tree Weather also support the American Meteorological Society, National Weather Association, the Community Collaborative Rain Hail and Snow Network, and the Mount Washington Observatory.

Financial support also goes to atmospheric science students who dedicate their time and energy into formulating forecasts for Pine Tree Weather to sharpen their skills and boost resume experience.
