Isolated showers/storms Saturday; a few more around Sunday; humidity builds into next week

Mountains and north have the better chance

Picture
Saturday appears to be a mainly dry affair for much of the region. Western areas may see a pop up shower or storm in the afternoon, but chances are slim. A weak cold front drops down from Quebec on Sunday, bringing a better chance for showers and thunderstorms for the mountains and north. I can't rule out an isolated shower or storm impacting the coastal plain, but it would be isolated as the front appears to fizzle out as it gets closer to the shorelines. Eastern areas may have a better chance for some sort of action than southern zones.

As far as severe weather goes, the risk is isolated, with damaging wind the main threat, IF it gets to that level. Strong storms with gusty winds have a better chance in this scenario. Remember, when thunder roars, head indoors!

Humidity rises to end the weekend

Picture
Northern areas appear to be the warmer part of the region Saturday as humidity increases from southwesterly flow. The shorelines will be the cooler of the region as a sea breeze keeps the temperatures down. With a favorable low tide during the 1-2 PM hour, there should be plenty of room at the beach for much of the day.

Humidity on Saturday increases for a few hours before the wind shifts towards evening. With the approaching front, muggy conditions increase again on Sunday. With the frontal boundary falling apart as it approaches the coast, the south/south westerly flow will hold the dew points higher, and will continue to until Wednesday, then fall back to more comfortable levels statewide by Thursday.

For those without air conditioning or dehumidifiers, here's your notice that you have one more comfortable night ahead.

It should also be noted that as the dew points rise, patchy fog is possible around the lakes, ponds and tributaries, but should burn off rather quickly.

With the cloud cover from the passing frontal boundary, it should keep much of the region in the low 80s with the exception of the southwest interior, where there will be more sun. It will be another great day for the beaches.

The work week starts off with a return of the muggy conditions and balmy overnight low temperatures. Expect 60°+ nights statewide through Wednesday morning.

Rain outlook

Picture
The rule of thumb here is the areas away from the coastal plain have the better chance for rain Saturday and Sunday. Our next chance for rain comes Wednesday into Thursday with scattered showers and thunderstorms likely.
