Above normal temps continue; storm to watch Thursday

Above normal work week, cooler weekend

Picture
The warm winter of 2019-20 continues in the northeast. The average temperature forecast through the week (in Celsius, above) appears warmer than normal. It saves money on the heat bill, which isn't a bad thing.
Picture
Warm weeks and cooler weekends has been the trend over the past couple of weeks and it appears to continue as we wrap up February and head into March.  Temperatures up in The County generally drop during the week and dip below normal for the weekend.
Picture
Central areas see a gradual drop in the high temperature department, but overnight lows appear 10° above normal through Thursday before dropping down a few degrees below normal by the weekend.

Western areas get a bit of precipitation
Tuesday afternoon

Picture
With a southwest air flow aloft and potential for an easterly wind off the ocean, a weak disturbance may fetch up some snow showers or flurries for western interior locations, and areas of patchy light rain shower or drizzle over southwestern areas Tuesday afternoon. I don't expect much in the way of snow accumulation, maybe an inch in isolated areas, and that idea may be generous. Outside of some mountain snow showers over the White's, this will be over and done with by midnight Wednesday.

A mixed bag on the way Wednesday night into Thursday

Picture
There is a fair chance that the north and mountains could get a decent snow event (roughly 4-8") out of this. Shoreline areas appear for now to be mainly rain. The storm track will dictate where the mix occurs. Guidance ideas are still a bit scattered on just how this will play out, but the consensus is there that the storm could bring tricky travel in areas Wednesday night, impact the morning and evening commutes on Thursday.

Stay tuned for updates on the details beginning Tuesday.
