Humidity relief and warm temperatures for the weekend, and a look at next week's weather

8/13/2020

Friday: Dry and warm temperatures

Picture
Thanks to a cold front pushing in from the north, Maine will feel some slightly cooler temperatures and a much needed humidity relief. Dew points drop and range from mid to high 50s statewide. For Down East, Mid Coast, and Portland areas, temperatures are expected to be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Elsewhere, temperatures ranging in the mid to upper 70s. Partly cloudy skies will also act to make Friday a beautiful day!

Saturday: Very similar to Friday, temperatures even out statewide

Picture
After the cold front pushes from the north and leaves the state, an area of high pressure takes it's place and temperatures even out statewide, ranging from mid to upper 70s statewide. Dew points range from low 50s to the north and high 50s to the south, providing relief from the humidity across Maine. Saturday will be very similar to Friday; an overall beautiful day!

Next week's temperatures

Picture
The GIF above runs from Sunday to Wednesday of next week and shows max temperatures of those days by a short-range model. A low pressure system from the west will begin to make it's way towards Maine on Monday and looks to impact Maine on Tuesday night and into Wednesday. As it approaches, winds are likely to shift southerly, providing an increase of temperatures for areas on or near the coast. The rest of the state looks to maintain their temperature in the mid to upper 70s as we head into next week.

Next week's possible rain

Picture
The GIF above runs from 8 PM Monday to 8 PM Tuesday and shows potential 3-hour precipitation from a long-range model. Since the next low pressure system is a while away, models haven't caught up to more specifics about the location and amount of potential rain. This model run just provides a glimpse of the possibility for some rain next week, and a good starting point to begin to monitor the potential rain.
