Synopsis outlook for the weekAn upper-level low that has been part of the atmospheric landscape over eastern Canada the past few days continues to control the outlook through Tuesday with showers and storms. High pressure moves in for midweek delivering dry conditions and a gradual increase in temperatures along with an uptick of humidity. A cold front enters the region late this week and returns rain to the forecast for Friday. Varying amounts of clouds and showers are possible from an upper-low for the weekend, stay tuned for updates on that. Monday weather acting like a MondayThe cold front slowly approaches the region, keeping the southerly wind flow going and thus feeding moisture into it. Far eastern areas appear to have a tough time seeing any sun for the day and can expect fog with various reduction of visibility. Western and southern areas see the sun poke out. While the sun may be pleasant to visualize, it should also be seen as a warning for storms to generate. Monday 6 AM to Tuesday Midnight - As I prepared this update early Monday morning, a thunderstorm passed through Kennebunk that brought torrential rainfall with a rate of 3.37" / hour and a quick 0.40" of accumulation according to the data from my CWOP station. That is a sample of what to expect for the day. Quick hitting storms are possible with heavy rain, gusty wind and perhaps some small hail through mid-evening. Some storms may reach severe limits. Showers and storms continue in the forecast for northern and eastern areas for Tuesday as the upper-level low tracks to the east and leaves the region Tuesday night.
