Showers continue through early afternoon in the southThe stalled out frontal boundary to the south and east of Maine slowly moves out into the Atlantic as high pressure over Ontario gradually moves toward the region. Hurricane Danielle still looks healthy well east in the Atlantic. Earl looks like it had a rough night but is expected to gather itself and head north then northeast, brushing Bermuda by the weekend. Where deformation bands set up is where the rain came over Labor Day, and it came in a bit north than expected. Many areas over western, central and eastern Hancock County ended up with well over an inch, with as much as 3.80" in Center Conway, NH. Mike Anderson in Sebago reported flooding in his driveway as he picked up over 3.6" where the rainfall trained for several hours. Overall, the area escaped with few impacts and a bit more rain to help curb the drought. The region enters a dry pattern now, with no sign of meaningful rain until the middle part of next week. Morning showers over the south end by early afternoon. As high pressure moves southeast, clouds break up over the western mountains and eastern areas bringing in some sun there. Clouds are likely to be the dominant feature for the south after the rain ends, with a clearing sky expected for Wednesday. Outlook through the weekendThe only weather of any real entertainment value will be that of Earl as it heads well offshore into the Atlantic over the next several days. Northern areas may see a shower or two on Thursday as a weak front passes through. It will be a nice stretch of "Maine summer" like temperatures with comfortable humidity levels.
