Winter storm warnings for the north for Wednesday

1/8/2019

Another rough travel day

Picture
A quick update here as I am pressed for time. The headlines above cover most of the issues for Wednesday. It will be a very rough travel day for the mountains and north with heavy snow that will blow and drift throughout the day. For the coastal plain and areas around the western foothills over to central Washington County can expect a mixed bag of rain, freezing rain, a touch of sleet, ending with snow.
Picture
As far as timing goes, expect a snowy commute in the north for the morning commute, and deteriorating conditions southwest to northeast during the morning and into the afternoon.  The evening commute appears to be a mess most everywhere, with conditions improving Wednesday night.

The mountains and north could see another 1-3"+ of snow in areas on Thursday.

My apologies for the brief update. I will have an update on timing in the morning on Facebook.

For the latest official forecasts, bulletins and advisories, please check in with the National Weather Service in Gray for western and southern areas, or Caribou for northern and eastern parts of Maine.
